Gel is Back

Does anyone use hair Gel anymore?  I mean I went to Jewel to hair gel .. first time since high school?  and took me a good 10 minutes of walking through the Hair Care aisle to find it's not there.   There were a few hair glue products there though.  Apparently they moved he hair gel/spray to the men's grooming section with shaving cream where I only found two different types.   Before I remember they had shelves full of different hair gels, and now there seems to be more hair glue than gel.

So I go home and tried some to see how it would go with my new haircut.  I have really thick hair, and it never has been kind to hair gel.  The hair would stand up in whatever position I styled it too, but fall over after a minute or two.

They would become lethal barbs protruding out of my forehead awaiting to stab the next person I'd bump into.  So to avoid being charged with assault with a deadly weapon I needed a way to keep this hair up.  I thought if I could keep the hair up before the gel dries it would stay.  So I then blasted it with a hair dryer to keep it up and eureka!

I'm 2 inches taller.  Only people I have to fear of stabbing now are birds... and guys that jump out of helicopters and such.... like double decker busses but we don't have that here

Snowboarding Round 2

untitled

If I had camera today this is probably what a picture of me would have looked like, but if I did have a camera it probably would have been smashed into a thousand bits like the snow I carved out of the mountain.... with my face.   Over the years I found that extreme sports can cause a lot of pain, like aggressive skating... but of all the things I've tried, snowboarding is the one that causes me the MOST pain.... without me even trying to do anything fancy.    Stand up.... FALL OVER,  move.... FALL OVER,  turn right.... FALL ON FACE,  turn left.... END UP IN BUSHES and then fall on face.   Word of advice for people who never snowboarded, wear wrist guards, butt pads, and maybe find yourself a couple of those sticks skiers use.  Lastly don't have any piece of normal fabric exposed or you may have a glacier stuck to you by the end of the day.

What 4 years of gaming and data entry did to my guitar skillz....  well there's probably no skills left. After playing Rockband for the first time, I finally picked up my acoustic guitar today to see if I could still play anything.  First thing that happend when I picked up the case was it flinging open and my guitar falling face flat on to the floor.  Probably foretelling the incomming fail.  At least it's still a sturdy as I remembered it since I saw no damage, good old solid spruce. Picking it up and tuning it with my electronic tuner, cause I'm tone death, I notice the touch on the strings was different.  I looked at my fingers and noticed all my callouse was gone. I could feel every single coil on the strings I pressed down.  It's going to be a long painful few months, and multiple peelings before I can get a solid set of uh.. extra dead skinned finger tips again.

So I started with the easy chords.... like EM, what a depressing chord.  Then to something more upbeat, G.  Not bad even though the higher 2 strings sounded like thuds cause I seem to have lost my grip.  It got even worse when I tried to bar chords.... only like one or two strings rung clear so I might as well have been playing power chords.  Great, all those button smashings in warcraft arena didn't help at all.  My grip on the pick wasn't too great either, felt like the thing was slipping out of my hand after every few strums.  Slowly getting it together, I tried to play an easy old school song "About a Girl" by Nirvana.  I saw them do it on tv's unplugged and looked easy with a slow catchy rhythm too * so I don't sound like I suck from playing easy chords *  Woot EM and G!!   If my guitar was like Rockband it would tell me that I failed if I kept missing too many chords.   I think if that was the case, I woulda sounded like " I need an easy FAIL!!"  game over.    Final conclusion, no more guitar skills.  maybe I can play a kazoo or one part of a drumset like if the drummer breaks his bass leg or something.

Wow I still have my xanga, and seems like every button I click now leads to some promotional advertisement.  What's more surprising is there's actually footprints from this week.... people still visit my empty site?? maybe it's google taking snapshots of my page for their search engine though.  So how are my fellow xangaers doing? still some of you out there I hope, or I've wasted my time typing this.... oh well at least google will see it

One thing I find my self unable to cope with is how my parents sold my old car w/o even telling me and left me with their old 94 Altima.  No matter how hard I try, this car just won't turn the way I want it too.  Trying to drive this car is like trying to ballroom dance with a fat chick compared to the Sentra.  The steering wheel is easier to turn though, but what's the point when the car won't go where you tell it to cause it's too heavy.  Abs brakes were another thing throwing my driving all off course and sadly the first night I took it out to small group I ended up in the middle of an intersection after stomping on the break pedals on a decline....  Good thing it was kinda late and there wasn't anyone who jumped the gun on their green light, just a guy who looked at me funny and then took a really wide left turn thanks to me.  Not even going to begin on how those spongy breaks messes up corner entries.  One safety issue I noticed is it takes forever to heat up inside.  I cranked up the window defoggers 2 weeks ago and drove to Chinatown from my house.  When I got out the rear window was still encrusted and the ice on the wipers were as thick as ever.  I'd take pictures to show you but had to sell my camera equipment to pay for my old car repairs, a lot of good that did me.   Oh well I'll just have to find alternate modes of transportation before I have to step into death on 4 wheels again.
